
Space Workhorse – A History Of The Space Shuttle – Episode 6: Put Out To Pasture
Space Shuttle Discovery launched July 26, 2005 as the first “Return To Flight” Space Shuttle mission 907 days after the loss of the shuttle Columbia. This flight was designated STS-114. This episode provides a detailed look at the crew boarding process and follows the crew from docking with to entering the International Space Station. There is also a preview of NASA’s next steps for future explorations to the moon, Mars and beyond. The last shuttle flight was July 8th to 11th by Atlantis in 2011. During its 30 years of missions the five shuttles - Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour – spent 1,323 days in space.
