
Life After Suicide
Technical Sgt. David Williamson, 436th Maintenance Squadron, describes losing his best friend to suicide and how he was able to heal in the aftermath at Dover Air Force Base, Del. He credits his Air Force family for helping support him during what he described as the "darkest moment of his life.” Suicide prevention and related PTSD issues continue to be a high priority. The Defense and Veterans Affairs Departments have collaborated on efforts to reduce suicide in the ranks and among veterans, who die by suicide at an average rate of 20 a day.
