When Bluey arrives in the sleepy sugar town of Silkwood, the Englishman quickly makes an enemy, but also a friend in a giant named Tiny rescues him. He brings Bluey to Elsie, the matriarch of the small town where he draws the attention of her two daughters, Kate and Dusty. Despite his kindness, Tiny refuses to let Bluey work the field with his crew, so he finds work with a rival Italian cane cutter, until Tiny loses one of his boys to a snake bite. An experienced Bluey joins Tiny’s crew and quickly becomes one of the guys. But his newfound happiness is threatened by the start of World War II.
